Journey to Healing

As a therapist working with survivors of partner abuse, you may have experienced:

  • Concern about their safety

  • Impatience that they remain in the relationship

  • Frustration when they don’t follow through with suggestions

  • Worry about their isolation

  • Overwhelm from the complexity of their struggles

  • Hopelessness that the abuse will ever stop

These feelings are natural. Every therapist working in this field encounters them, which is why awareness of countertransference is essential. Your emotional responses can offer valuable insight into what survivors themselves may be feeling.

During my practice, I developed resources to aid clients in their healing journeys. My motivation to share them comes from hearing clients express that they wished they had access to such materials in previous therapy experiences.

Words From Clinicians

"A couple of days ago I read the Bricks of Isolation list to a 17 year old and her mom. She was able to make connections on a deeper level. If that is the only time I use the book that is enough. (it won’t be)"
